The City of Karratha is required to conduct local government elections every two years. These are held on the third Saturday in October.
Recent legislative reforms to the Local Government Act 1995 will result in Council reducing from 10 to 9 elected member representatives in 2025 which includes the election of a popularly elected mayor by electors.
The next local government election will be held Saturday 18 October 2025 with five seats being contested. This election will be conducted via a postal vote.
In the 2025 local government election there will be four contested seats with 4-year terms and one contested seat with a two-year term.
