Electoral Rolls
For local government elections, the City uses two electoral rolls:
- Residents Roll: residents who are enrolled to vote in the State or Federal elections for the City of Karratha district are automatically enrolled to vote and will appear on the Western Australian Electoral Commission’s Residents Roll.
- Non-Resident Owners and Occupiers Roll: owners or occupiers of rateable land in the City of Karratha who live outside of the district may be eligible to vote if they apply to be on the City’s Owners and Occupier roll.
Voting Eligibility
You are eligible to vote in the Local Government Election if:
- You are a resident of the City of Karratha and are enrolled to vote in State elections; or
- You are enrolled to vote in State or Federal elections, own or occupy rateable property in the City, and have made a successful eligibility claim.
You can confirm your enrolment details on the Australian Electoral Commission or Western Australian Electoral Commission website.
You must be at least 18 years old and an Australian citizen to enrol to vote.
Your enrolment details must be up to date before 22 August 2025 to ensure your Voting Pack is mailed to the right address.
Non-resident Owners and Occupiers
Do you own or occupy a rateable property or business within the City of Karratha? Then you may be eligible to vote in the City’s upcoming 2025 Local Government Election.
Even if you don’t currently reside in the City of Karratha, voting in the local election gives you the opportunity to have a say on the people who make decisions that impact the local community including those of business owners.
How do I check if my enrolment details are up to date?
You can confirm your enrolment details on the Australian Electoral Commission or Western Australian Electoral Commission website to ensure your Voting Pack is mailed to the right address.
What if I am a resident but am not enrolled to vote or I have moved since the last election?
The 2025 local government election will be conducted via postal vote. This means for you to receive a Voting Pack you need to ensure your enrolment address is up to date.
You can enrol to vote or change your address online with a driver’s licence, passport number or other proof of identity documentation on the Australian Electoral Commission website Enrol to Vote.
How do I apply to be on the City’s Owners & Occupiers Roll?
