Appeals

Infringements may be considered for withdrawal by stating the grounds of your objection. Supporting documentation must be provided.

All requests for infringements to be reviewed must be made to the City of Karratha in written form, within 28 days of the infringement issue date, in line with the Fines, Penalties and Infringement Notices Enforcement Act 1994.

There are several options for making an appeal. Choose from the following:

  • Email: Download and complete the Appeal Infringement Form and return it via email to enquiries@karratha.wa.gov.au with any supporting documents.
  • In Person: Visit the City of Karratha Administration Building, Welcome Road, Karratha between 8.30am and 4.30pm, Monday to Friday. Remember to bring in any supporting documents.

All infringement appeals must be submitted via the Appeal Infringement Form

Your appeal will only be considered if it meets one of the following criteria:

  • Medical emergency (documentation is required from your medical practitioner or hospital to support this claim)
  • Mechanical breakdown (a statutory declaration and proof of repairs is required, for example a receipt for parts, an invoice from mechanic, RAC call out documentation or a towing receipt)
  • Stolen vehicle (Police report number is required)
  • You were detained by the Police (documentation from the Police is required)
  • Other relevant reason

Your appeal will not be considered if it falls under one of the categories listed on form
Once your appeal has been received, your infringement will be put on hold until a decision is made, which you will receive notification of in writing.
If your infringement appeal is not approved, you will then have the remaining time period from when you lodged your appeal to pay before a final demand and additional costs are incurred.
If photo evidence is applicable to your infringement, you may be able to view this if you attend Customer Service or contact the City of Karratha. Please note that identification will be required to obtain this information.
