International Day of People with Disability Event - Pilbara 2025

The International Day of People with Disability (IDPWD) is a globally recognised day that celebrates the achievements, strengths, and contributions of people with disability.

This year, the Pilbara Disability Network is proud to host a major community event in Karratha, designed to amplify lived experience, showcase inclusive practices, and connect people with disability with services, community groups, and employers.

We are committed to making the International Day of People with Disability event welcoming and accessible for everyone. 

The event will be held at the Red Earth Arts Precinct and will feature:

  • Wheelchair-accessible venue, parking, and bathroom facilities

  • Auslan interpreters/ Closed Captioning available for key presentations and announcements

  • Clear signage and wayfinding around the venue, & Assistance available from event volunteers upon request

  • Guest speakers with lived experience

  • Interactive education and awareness activations

  • Community and service provider stalls

  • Sensory-friendly and accessible activities for all ages

  • Food vans, coffee, and a shared morning tea

  • Opportunities for the community to learn, engage and take action
