Coffee for Waste Warriors initiative
Partner with us to brew change!
The City of Karratha is seeking expressions of interest from local coffee venues and mobile traders to participate in an upcoming waste education initiative.
This program will see the City of Karratha’s Waste Services team hosting a series of ‘pop-up’ sessions alongside local cafes / coffee vans to encourage the use of reusable cups and reduction of waste and reliance on single-use products.
Participating venues will work with the City to provide free coffees (reimbursed by the City of Karratha) at organised sessions to customers who bring a keep cup, or those who choose to use a mug from the City’s ‘mug library’. A representative from the Waste Services team will be on site to provide educational information to interested customers.
Interested venues and traders are invited to submit an expression of interest by 5pm 30 September 2025.

FAQs
When would you bump in / set up?
- A City of Karrathe representative would set up about 15 minutes prior to the session.
How long would each session run?
- Sessions are proposed to run from either 5am to 7am or 7am to 9am
How many free coffees would you be supplying per session?
- We expect to be reimbursing around 30 coffees, but will discuss logistics directly with venues following the close of EOIs
How would you be paying/reimbursing the coffees?
- Ideally, a City representative will have tokens or vouchers to give patrons who arrive with a keep cup or choose to use a cup from the 'mug library'. Staff will accept the token as payment, and at the end of the session they will provide the City with a total number of redeemed vouchers and a Purchase Order will be provided to reimburse funds.
How does the mug library work?
- The City is able to bring along a collection of used keep cups and mugs to offer patrons rather than using a single-use cup.
Can venues offer more than one session?
- This will depend on how many EOI submissions are submitted.
Where will this initiative be held?
- Specific locations will depend on which businesses register an EOI to participate. We aim to provide this in each town across the City of Karratha.
