Elections

Local government elections are a vital part of Western Australia's democratic system.

The City of Karratha is required to conduct local government elections every two years. These are held on the third Saturday in October. Members of Council, comprising a Mayor and Councillors, are elected for four-year terms. Half of the Member’s terms conclude at each biennial election.

The next local government election will be held Saturday, 18 October 2025 with five seats being contested. See below for more information.

Contact the Returning Officer, Andrew Dunkin on 0408 891 905 to nominate.
