Connection with community and each other the focus of Karratha’s Youth Week

Karratha's Youth Week celebrations will feature a range of free events that will encourage everyone to check in with their head, body and heart.

Youth Week WA  occurs once annually and is the biggest celebration of young people and in the Western Australia youth calendar.

This year Youth Week will run from 10-17 April with ‘Our Threads, This Place, Your Moment’ and is centred on young people’s connection with community, each other and themselves.

The City in consultation with the Youth Advisory Group have developed a schedule of free events and workshops to celebrate young people living within the City of Karratha.

From the Kick off Concert featuring ZERO Emcee and markets on 11 April, and a Glow in the dark secret rave to 3x3 basketball, free movies, and art lessons there is something for everyone.

City of Karratha Mayor Daniel Scott said the City is excited to facilitate a diverse range of activities for youth to participate in and engage with this year’s theme.

“Youth Week is just one of the many great things our City is doing to support and help our young people grow,” said Cr Scott.

“From our Community Survey, we know residents care about having activities for youth, and this is a fantastic way we’re working to offer more fun and engaging opportunities for them.”

“Whether you are into music, art, gaming, sport, or just want to spend time with friends, we have something for you this year.”

Cr Scott said events would be held across Karratha, Wickham, Dampier, and Roebourne.

“We offer a variety of activities aimed at boosting creativity and kindness. I encourage the young people to get involved, connect with each other, their community and themselves," said Cr Scott.

This years event is presented by the City of Karratha with support from the Department of Communities and sponsored by Santos.
