The City of Karratha has adopted an updated Stallholders and Street Trading Policy with a focus on providing fair and equitable outcomes for all businesses.
The updated policy has been adopted by Council following extensive community feedback and consultation.
As part of the consultation process the City held a public survey as well as multiple workshops with both mobile and fixed businesses.
The updated policy includes additional locations, such as Hearson’s Cove, as well as the inclusion of new clauses allowing fixed traders to invite mobile traders to special events.
City of Karratha Mayor Daniel Scott said the City recognises the positive impact mobile traders have on our economy and community.
“We want to see both fixed businesses and mobile trader thrive across the City,” Cr Scott said.
“This updated policy is aimed at coming to fair and equitable outcomes for traders whether they are fixed business or mobile.”
“It’s always hard to balance the needs of both fixed and mobile businesses and we have done our best to come to an outcome that is best for everyone.
“We have a number of locations available, and have added to this including Hearson’s Cove and removed conditions restricting the number of trading days permitted at Church Road in Dampier."
