Wickham Oval Redevelopment - Progress Update

The Wickham Oval Redevelopment project is delivering upgrades to the precinct to improve drainage performance, playing surface quality, and parking functionality. Ultimately, making Wickham Oval safer, more functional, and ready for the future.

Since construction commenced in September, substantial works have been completed and key milestones achieved.

In October, the site was established, earthworks commenced, the existing lighting towers were removed, and the new rugby oval lighting was installed. In November, major earthworks were completed, drainage works and footings were initiated, the main site switchboard was installed, and four new lighting towers with fittings arrived on-site ready for installation.

So far in December, the AFL oval lighting towers have been installed, and topsoil for the playing surface has been delivered to the site. The irrigation mainline is complete, with installation of the lateral lines and sprinkler heads now underway. Carpark construction has also commenced, including the installation of culverts and drainage swales, with foundation works progressing well. The project remains on schedule.

The City thanks the community for its ongoing patience and support. Special thanks also go to Rio Tinto for funding and supporting the redevelopment of Wickham Oval.
