The City of Karratha has secured State Government funding through the Regional Road Group for the financial years 2024-2025 and 2025-2026 to deliver essential resurfacing works on a key transport route. The project will upgrade 6 kilometres of Dampier Road, between Dewitt Road and Madigan Road, enhancing safety, road conditions, and overall connectivity for road users.
Construction will take place in two stages between April 2025 and September 2025.
Dampier Road is a critical transport corridor, connecting Karratha and Dampier, and includes:
- Multiple local road connections
- Six dual-lane roundabouts
- Several traffic signal intersections
- Dual carriageways for eastbound and westbound travel
The road carries a high volume of traffic daily, serving as a key route for residents, workers and visitors.
During the resealing process, road users are advised to proceed with caution due to the presence of spray seal coating and loose aggregate. Sweeping and rolling will be undertaken to manage surface conditions. Temporary traffic stops may occur to help prevent damage to vehicles.
This project is supported through Regional Road Group Funding provided by the State Government of Western Australia.
