The City of Karratha has adopted its Community Infrastructure Plan 2025–2035, setting out the next decade of community facilities to support local families, clubs and neighbourhoods.
Developed with extensive community feedback, the 10-year plan maps out short, medium and long-term infrastructure needs and priories for all towns within the region.
These range from new indoor courts at Karratha Leisureplex, a gymnastics space, an arts and cultural centre, an emergency evacuation centre in the eastern corridor, a feasibility study for a waterpark in the City and several new and upgraded sports facilities across the City.
City of Karratha Mayor Daniel Scott said the plan would ensure the City continues to deliver the right facilities in the right places as the community grows.
“Our Community Infrastructure Plan is about ensuring we have the right facilities in place to meet the needs of our growing and changing population over the next decade,” Mayor Scott said.
“We’ve listened carefully to what our residents value most, and this plan gives us a clear roadmap to invest in facilities that make everyday life better – whether that’s more shaded playgrounds, modern sporting facilities, or safe and welcoming spaces for arts, culture and connection.
“As our city grows, these investments will strengthen local clubs, support healthier lifestyles, and help us achieve our vision of being Australia’s most liveable regional city, the place we are proud to call home.
“By aligning this plan with our Council Plan 2025–2035, we’re making sure our investment decisions are well-considered, sustainable and deliver the most benefit for our community now and into the future.”
