City recognised as a Gold Waterwise Council for third year running

The City of Karratha has been announced as a Gold Waterwise Council for the third year running.

Since 2017, the City of Karratha has been endorsed as a Waterwise Council with our swimming pools and airport also endorsed as Waterwise facilities.

In 2022 the City of Karratha became just the second regional council to receive a gold waterwise rating.

As part of the rating, the City was recognised for leadership in climate change adaptation and sustainable water management, particularly integrating recycled water into urban greening initiatives.

City of Karratha Mayor Daniel Scott said it was a great achievement for the City to be recognised as a Gold Waterwise Council.

"I’m extremely proud that we’ve upheld our Gold Waterwise Council rating. This is a significant accomplishment and a well-deserved recognition for our dedicated teams," Cr Scott said.

"This award highlights our ongoing leadership in climate change adaptation and sustainable water practices.

"Achieving and retaining the Gold Waterwise status reflects our commitment to water efficiency. It demonstrates the continuous effort we put into improving both our water usage and management practices.

"We remain focused on taking actions that enhance the livability and sustainability of our community."
