Western Australia’s oldest community fun run will continue to be held in Karratha for the next three years.
The City of Karratha has agreed to provide sponsorship for three years to help deliver the event in Karratha.
The City to Surf is a family-friendly fun run accessible for all ages and abilities, offering a 4km and 12km course for participants to walk or run in both Karratha and Perth.
Karratha is the only regional location in Western Australia to host a City to Surf event and is expected to hundreds of attract participants when it is held on 27 July.
As part of the funding agreement, the City will provide $75,000 over three years as part of its major event sponsorship and attraction program.
City of Karratha Mayor Daniel Scott said the event was expected to see hundreds of locals participate.
“Since its inception in 1975, the Chevron City to Surf for Activ has grown from hundreds to thousands of participants and raised more than 10 million dollars for people living with disability,” Cr Scott said.
“Supporting this much-loved event that brings the community from across our five towns and further afield together.
Cr Scott said he encouraged residents of all fitness levels to participate in the event.
“I’m looking forward to participating in this year’s event and seeing so many residents having fun and hitting the pavement for a good cause.”
