Community representatives appointed to Point Samson Advisory Group

The City of Karratha is pleased to announce the appointment of community members to the Point Samson Advisory Group (PSAG), following a recent Expression of Interest process.

The PSAG plays an important role in strengthening communication, collaboration and connections between Point Samson residents and the City. The group supports community-focused projects, provides valuable feedback, and helps ensure local priorities are clearly reflected [KM1] in current and future planning.

Established as a key action of the Point Samson Interim Plan endorsed by Council on 29 April 2024, the PSAG continues to evolve to reflect the needs and aspirations of the community. Following discussions with existing members, the City recently sought to welcome new members to further strengthen and diversify the group.

The City congratulates the following community members selected to represent Point Samson on the PSAG:

  • John Kraus
  • Claudia Kraus
  • Rob and Anna Vitenbergs
  • Michelle Bez
  • Elissa Gullock
  • Peter Green
  • Michael Whittaker
  • Sharon Leane

These members will play an important role in sharing information, representing local perspectives, and contributing to positive outcomes for the Point Samson community.

City of Karratha Mayor Daniel Scott said the Advisory Group is an important link between the City and the Point Samson community.

“The Point Samson Advisory Group gives residents a direct channel to share their perspectives on local planning, helping ensure community priorities are clearly understood,” Mayor Scott said.

“We’ve seen how valuable this group has been in bringing people together and providing practical, on-the-ground insights, and it’s great to welcome a mix of returning and new members.

“I’d like to congratulate all successful applicants and thank them for stepping forward to represent their community. Their input will play a key role in shaping Point Samson’s future.”

The City looks forward to working closely with the group, with the first quarterly meeting scheduled for 27 May 2026.
