The City of Karratha is to develop a Richardson Way Site masterplan, which includes the proposal for a new fenced off-lead dog exercise area and bike park.
The masterplan will guide the future development of the site, ensuring a coordinated approach to infrastructure, open spaces, and community amenities.
It comes after community support for the establishment of a fenced off-lead dog exercise area as well as overwhelming interest for a new bike park in Karratha, with City officers identifying the Richardson Way Park site as the preferred location for its future development based on community consultation outcomes.
This decision follows a comprehensive review of existing dog exercise areas and an assessment of potential future needs.
City of Karratha Mayor Daniel Scott said creating a masterplan is an important first step in shaping the future of this community space.
“By creating a clear plan, we can ensure the site meets the needs of residents, and supports active lifestyles,” Cr Scott said.
“Given the site has been identified as suitable for both a bike park and dog exercise area, a Masterplan will allow Council to explore a coordinated, multi-use vision for the site.
“This plan will guide how we deliver these facilities in a coordinated, well-considered way.”
Community feedback will be sought as the project progresses, with updates provided via the City of Karratha website and social media channels.
