Tenders to be invited for Kevin Richards Memorial Oval hardcourts and shade

The City of Karratha will be inviting tenders for the construction of stage 4 of the Kevin Richards Memorial Oval.

The Kevin Richards Memorial Oval Masterplan was originally endorsed by Council in October 2020 to guide the staged redevelopment of the precinct.

Stage 4 will deliver the three Multi-Use Hardcourts, including an integrated shade structure, lighting and associated supporting infrastructure.

The inclusion of an integrated shade structure is in response to feedback from the community as well as Council's adopted community infrastructure standards.

City of Karratha Mayor Daniel Scott said the stage 4 works would increase court capacity for locals.

“Excitingly, the three courts have been designed to suit netball and basketball, while the southern court will also support pickleball,” Mayor Scott said.

“The integrated shade and lighting will also make the courts more practical and accessible throughout the year.

“This is another important step in the ongoing redevelopment of Kevin Richards Memorial Oval and delivering facilities that meet the needs of our growing community.”

The Stage 4 works are expected to commence in early 2027, subject to the tender and procurement process.
