Applications are now open for a $10,000 grant to help students achieve their tertiary education dreams.
Named after the late Dr. Al Walkington, Founding Director of Karratha College (North Regional TAFE), the Walkington Award recognises an exceptional Year 12 student who has excelled academically and contributed positively to their community.
The successful applicant will receive $10,000 to assist with their tertiary education.
Applications for the scholarship open for four weeks from 27 July to 23 August, with the winner to be announced at their school’s end of year celebrations.
City of Karratha Mayor Daniel Scott said the City is proud to support local young people achieve their educational goals.
“The Walkington Award has helped students from Karratha for more than 40 years complete their tertiary education,” Mayor Scott said.
“The application itself also provides students with an opportunity to look back with pride on the hard work and achievements they have made ahead of their next stage of education.
“I encourage all eligible young people to consider applying for this year’s Award.”
The Walkington Award is open to Year 12 students studying four or more ATAR subjects, who reside in the City of Karratha.
