Notice is hereby given that the Council, at its Ordinary Council Meeting held on 27 July 2026, resolved to adopt amendments to the following Local Planning Policies and extend their duration for a further five years:
- Local Planning Policy 07 – Residential Development Requirements
- Local Planning Policy 22 – Advertising Signs
- Local Planning Policy 24 – Complex Applications
- Local Planning Policy 25 – Design Review
- Local Planning Policy 26 – Requirements for Local Planning Scheme Amendments.
The policies were reviewed to ensure they remain contemporary and consistent with the City’s Local Planning Scheme No. 8, the State planning framework and current guidance for the preparation and administration of local planning policies.
The amendments are minor in nature and do not materially alter the intent, application or development outcomes of the policies. The amendments principally relate to policy terminology, structure and formatting, including renaming the policies as Local Planning Policies, updating language and document control information, and aligning the policies with the current prescribed manner and form.
In accordance with Schedule 2 of the Planning and Development (Local Planning Schemes) Regulations 2015, Council also determined that each policy will continue in effect for a further five years immediately following the end of its current effective period.
The amended Local Planning Policies are available for inspection on the City of Karratha website or during office hours at the City of Karratha Administration Office, Welcome Road, Karratha.
